Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are currently juggling in and out of the Fairfax, Virginia Courthouse. It so happened that the Pirates of the Caribbean star has filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife. Owing to the same, the former Hollywood couple’s private life has become public now. For the unversed, the defamation trial began on April 11, 2022, and continues till now. The said trial is heavily covered by commentators on social media and the press. This follows another libel trial that happened in the UK in 2020 against the publisher and the executive editor of The Sun which covered the same issues.

Johnny Depp has sued Heard for $50 million. It is concerning a Washington Post op-ed written by the Aquaman actress in December 2018 about being a survivor of sexual abuse. Heard wrote that she had been the victim of sexual abuse like many other women when she was of college-age. She further added that she remained quiet as she did not expect filing complaints could bring justice to her. She also said that she did not see herself as a victim.
