Rohit Sharma on Virat Kohli during the first ODI at Eden

It’s hard to take your eyes off Rohit Sharma when the camera is on him. It is quite often the case now because he took over as India’s limited-overs captain. He doesn’t have that extreme, battle-ready face of a Virat Kohli, and nor does he stay nearly reactionless like MS Dhoni. Rohit in fact has his own way of responding on the cricket field. Read more about Rohit Sharma on Virat Kohli during the first ODI at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

One such incident took place during India vs West Indies first T20I on Wednesday. There was confusion about whether to go for a DRS hearing to the bowler Ravi Bishnoi and former skipper Virat Kohli. However, Rohit found time to pass on a statement at the on-field umpire’s wide call. “How can you call it a wide?”, Rohit spoke when the umpire pulled his arms up overlooking a strong appeal from debutant Bishnoi.

Rohit Sharma agreed to Virat Kohli

He was once again aided by Virat Kohli. The former captain urged his successor to take a DRS review during the 1st T20I between India and the West Indies on Wednesday. After recording a historic One Day International series victory over the West Indies. Rohit-led Men in Blue squared off against the Pollard-led side in the shortest form at the Eden Gardens.

India chose to take a review against batter Roston Chase, during debutant Ravi Bishnoi’s maiden over. Bishnoi’s googly went down the leg and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant dislodged the bails. Even though there was a firm appeal for caught back and stumping, umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal signalled a wide.

At a time when Rohit was stunned by the umpire’s wide signal, Kohli backed Bishnoi’s appeal. He indicated that he heard two sounds. “I’m saying it, you go ahead for the review”, Kohli suggested to Rohit. The India skipper decided to take the review but the square leg umpire had already agreed to the appeal made by the commentators.
